Howdy, y'all!

It's been a while since my last post, so I just thought I'd give a brief update. All is well with me and the comic, but I've been really busy so I need a short break. There will be no update today or next week, but getting caught up will be my first priority in July.

The Mushy Stuff zine I made for TCAF is now available for purchase from my online store!

This is a 44-page, full color book that contains mushy, romantic comics and illustrations of Buwaro and Kieri from 2018-2022. If you are a $5+ patron of mine, you can download the PDF here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/mushy-stuff-2022-66408991

And for those of you wondering about the Book Three Kickstarter... don't worry, I haven't forgotten about it!

That's all for now. Happy Pride Month!

You can download this as a 1920x1080 wallpaper on my Patreon!

Hey, folks! Long story short, 2021 was a rough year for me, so I'm taking a break from art for a month. I plan to resume updates to Slightly Damned in February 2022. I'll be fine; I just need some time to rest.

By the way, the Slightly Damned Book Two campaign was a smashing success. All the orders have been sent out, and everyone who reached out to me got what they needed in the end. If you missed out on the crowdfunding event, you can still get copies of Book Two, either as a physical copy or a PDF, from Slightly Damned's Hivemill store: https://hivemill.com/collections/slightly-damned

Hello all! Some of you may have noticed how inconsistent the updates have been this year. In short, I have had a very rough 2021. One of my cats suddenly became very ill and had to be put down in April. I've had some serious interpersonal issues that finally came to a head in early summer. It wouldn't be appropriate to go into the details here, but just trust me: it sucks! And just last week, my air conditioner broke (I live in the desert with 100F+ weather every day in summer) and then a sudden, violent storm knocked our neighbor's tree onto our house. I've been pushing myself as hard as possible to keep up with Slightly Damned, Patreon, and finish my commission queue, but it's been a difficult time.

This week I am going to be vending at DenFur in Denver, Colorado. I am looking forward to the change of pace and scenery and being able to see my convention buddies again. I'm really burnt out from drawing anyway, so I am hoping that I'll feel refreshed when I return. My plan is to use the rest of August to finally finish my commission queue and then use September & early October to catch up with Slightly Damned and Patreon work.

Thanks so much for always being so patient and supportive. I'm really frustrated with how a lot of things have turned out lately. I am grateful for all the friends who have stood by my side, as well as anyone who's sent me kind words, or even just quietly enjoyed my art. I wouldn't be able to do this without you.

P.S. The goodies from the Slightly Damned Book 2 Kickstarter are being packed and shipped by Hiveworks this month. Look forward to receiving your rewards soon!

Hi, folks! I hoped that when I wrote this post that there would be a new page up, but I just had a really bad week once I tried to work on comic pages. As a result, I ran out of time, so I apologize for the delay. If you want to see what the WIP page 1001 looks like, though you can see it on my Twitter and Patreon! I will resume work on it when I can. Thanks for being patient!

But I still have some good news to share! First of all, as of March 14, 2021, Slightly Damned is 17 years old. That means it's time for the annual wallpaper sale, which is when I offer every Patreon wallpaper I've made since 2014 on Gumroad for as little as $1. (You can pay more, of course, if you like what I do and want to help ensure that I can keep doing it!)

Check it out here! >> https://gum.co/CrtKk <<

Also, Sakido plushies are back in stock in my online store!

Check out my store here! >> https://chu.storenvy.com/

P.S. If you're wondering about the progress of Slightly Damned Book Two, things are progressing smoothly. There were a few behind-the-scenes delays, but the proofreading is finished and we just have a few final adjustments to make before everything gets sent off to be printed!

Hey folks! Just wanted to write a new journal to let you all know how I'm doing these days, what's coming next, and update information on where to find me.

The Slightly Damned Kickstarter to print a new and improved version of Book 2 was a smashing success! I just finished drawing nearly all the bonus material for it, and before you know it, it'll be off to the printers.

2020 was a pretty tough year, as I'm sure all of you know. It got even tougher when a friend of mine suddenly passed away in fall. A week later, one of our cats became ill and we had to put him down. I still did my best to hold things together, work on the Kickstarter campaign and work on the book while also keeping up with my normal obligations. And, well, now I'm really tired and I need a break!!

Slightly Damned is fast approaching its 1000th page. Quite a milestone. I have decided that once we reach it, I am going on a short sabbatical. There will be no new pages from the 1000th page's debut on January 2 until the comic's 17th anniversary on March 14. I love working on Slightly Damned and I'm still excited for its future! But I'm burnt out and my arm feels like it's about to fall off. I need to rest.

I'm not sure how I'll spend those two and a half months yet, but I'm keeping my options open. I've got some ideas: giving the Slightly Damned website some much-needed TLC, drawing fanart and gifts for friends, commissions, experimenting with animation in Clip Studio Paint, maybe even Junk Hyenas? I'm not going to promise much since my main priority will be rest. I'll still be around, though-- not like there's anywhere to go, anyway!

Lastly, I just started streaming on Twitch! You can find me at http://twitch.tv/hyenachu I stream art on weekdays and video games on Sundays. I've also revived my old Youtube account to use an archive for my video game streams and speedpaints for my art: http://youtube.com/c/raizap

Your support means a lot to me, so I want to make sure I can keep going for a long time. An important part of that is taking breaks when necessary. Thanks so much for understanding and being patient!

The long-awaited Kickstarter campaign to fund Book Two has finally launched!! I've made a ton of new goodies like prints and bookmarks that you can get when you pledge!

Book Two is a HUGE volume that covers the events of Slightly Damned from the trio's time in Riverside City to Buwaro and Kieri's first kiss. Plus it contains a bunch of bonus material that I made exclusively for the book. Please check it out, pledge if you can, and even if you can't, spreading the word would be immensely helpful!

Update 10/15: Hey, folks! We're halfway through the campaign and I'm floored by all the support! We smashed through our initial goal, and we are now rocketing towards our only stretch goal, which is to print Book Three as well! If we manage to reach $40,000 before the end of the month, we can add new reward tiers!

As a THANK YOU to everyone for helping out, I'll be updating the comic with a bonus page every time we reach a new $5,000 milestone. That means every time the Kickstarter campaign reaches $30,000, $35,000, and $40,000, I will post a new page in addition to the normal Saturday update.

It ain't over 'til it's over, baby!!!
Posted September 23, 2020 at 10:34 pm

Hi folks! First of all, I want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who gave me a tip, bought something from my store, got a commission from me, and told me some kind words. Summer is always a bad time for me, and summer of 2020 has been one of the roughest. But your generosity helped me buy groceries and pet food, and your encouragement kept my spirits up. I'm still very fortunate in that my living situation is stable, but every little bit helps from the gaping hole that all the canceled conventions left in my life-- and bank account.

Now onto some good news: one of the things I've been working hard on behind the scenes is the preparations for the next Slightly Damned Kickstarter! This time, our goal is to print the new, improved, full-of-new-bonus-material second edition of Slightly Damned: Book Two. (In short, the first edition was long-discontinued years ago because it was made via print-on-demand, with weak binding and a prohibitively expensive price.) This new Kickstarter is very similar to the previous one, so some of you will know what to expect from the tiers: the chance to write gag comics, nominate redrawn pages, and nab original pencils! There are also new goodies, like prints and stickers. As for stretch goals, there is only one: printing Book Three as well.

The Kickstarter will run from October 1st through October 30th, just before Halloween. I'll be trying to promote the campaign as much as I can on my social media and art sites by drawing a bunch of art. It's my dream to someday collect the whole comic into printed books, so this is an important step towards that goal! Once the project launches, I'll make a new post with the link.

Hello, everyone! I hope you all are doing as well as you can be in these harrowing times. As you are already aware, pretty much all conventions have been cancelled or postponed until at least 2021 due to covid-19. That means I've lost anywhere from one third to one half of my total income for the year, if not longer. Thankfully I am lucky to be in a stable living situation with my close friends, so I'm currently in no danger of starving or being evicted. Still, losing that much money is a huge bummer, and it means keeping up with bills is a bit harder than usual. Plus, with how inconsiderate my fellow Americans are being about staying away from crowds and wearing masks, who knows how long this mess will last?

Although I'm not in an emergency situation, I would appreciate your help if you like my work. Patreon (http://patreon.com/raizap) is my primary source of income, and even a small amount each month helps out a lot! Even just $2/month can help me with transaction fees and taxes. There are lots of exclusive goodies that you can unlock by being a patron, from being able to suggest ideas for and download exclusive wallpapers, to seeing comic pages a week in advance!

If a subscription isn't your style, then please consider buying some merchandise from me. You can get Slightly Damned books and prints from my Hivemill store (https://hivemill.com/collections/slightly-damned)! I also sell Slightly Damned plushies and lots of cute animal-themed t-shirts, stickers, lanyards, enamel pins, and more on my Storenvy (http://chu.storenvy.com)!

And if you don't care for subscriptions, and aren't interested in buying any wares at the moment, I do occasionally open up for commissions. Openings are announced through my art sites and social media, so keep an eye out! And, hey, if you would just like to give me money, I wouldn't say no to a tip or two at this crucial time: https://www.paypal.me/sdamned

By the way, I am currently making preparations to launch a Kickstarter for the reprinting of Slightly Damned: Book Two! It will be very similar to the 2018 campaign to reprint Book One. I don't have a concrete launch date for it yet, as I am a bit behind on my work, but I am hoping it will happen sometime around late summer to early fall.

If money is tight right now, like it is for millions of people, but you'd still like to support me, don't underestimate the power of word of mouth! I'm just one small creator doing their best to work on their passion project. It's easy for me to be overlooked in an endless sea of entertainment and social media fighting for people's attention. Even if all you do is tell one friend that Slightly Damned's archive is worth reading, that can be a huge help! And not just because I get ad revenue from readers visiting the site... it's also because I've put a lot of time and effort into making this story, and it means a lot to me. That one suggestion might ripple out across friend circles to make a big change in someone's life. Besides, who couldn't use a bit of escapism into a fantasy world about animes--I mean Angels-- and furries--I mean Demons-- these days?

I am fortunate enough to be able to keep doing what I'm doing thanks only to the support I receive through the people who enjoy my art. Comic updates and artwork for me will continue as long as my life and mental health remain stable enough.

Remember: Black Lives Matter, Trans Rights are Human Rights, wash your hands, stay at home if you can, and wear a mask if you can't. I wish you all the best, and I hope that we can all get through this together!

Thanks to the support of readers like you, Slightly Damned has been nominated for an Ursa Major Award for "Best Graphic Story"! It's not over yet, though, as in order to win, Slightly Damned needs to get more votes than the other nominees. The competition is fierce this year, and I'm also ready happy just to be nominated, but... you know what they way: you gotta dream big!
Voting is free and easy. Just go to https://ursamajorawards.org/voting2019/ and follow the instructions. Thank you very much!

Hello, y'all! I just want to say that because I will be very busy in February, I have chosen not to update Slightly Damned during this month. The last page you'll see will be page 900 until updates resume in March. Thank you for your patience and understanding! I think I will try to spend time in March making a buffer of Slightly Damned pages so these interruptions are less frequent.

Speaking of March, Slightly Damned's 15th anniversary will be on March 14th. Time flies, huh? I don't have anything special to celebrate in mind, but if you have a suggestion for something you'd like to see me do or make, I'm willing to listen. Leave a comment or see what other people have said on this Patreon post if you're interested: https://www.patreon.com/posts/24300624

Thank you for all the support you've given me over the years. I wouldn't have made it this far without your help!

The Slightly Damned books have arrived at the Hiveworks warehouse, meaning everything will start being shipped out shortly! Please make sure that your address in your surveys is up-to-date and accurate before 1/20!

P.S. I will be vending at Further Confusion in San Jose, CA this weekend! Unfortunately, I don't have any Slightly Damned books with me, but I do have enamel pins and plushies (including Sakido and Iratu)! I will also have copies of The Junk Hyenas Diner as well as animal stickers, pins, and t-shirts. Plus, I'll be offering my usual same day badge commissions. Hope to see you there!

Sorry, but Slightly Damned is on a teensy weeny break. I got sick twice this month with two different illnesses, so I lost a lot of work time and am a bit behind. I need some extra time to get things in order.

From 11/30 through 12/2 I'll be selling my wares at Midwest Fur Fest in Rosemont, Illinois!

On 12/8, a guest comic by Nick Daniel will be posted! He's my friend and the creator of one of my favorite webcomics, Latchkey Kingdom! Also, my other webcomic, The Junk Hyenas Diner, will FINALLY get a 5-page update to conclude the chapter "I Scream Cake!"

On 12/15, Slightly Damned will resume updates as normal. Thank you for understanding! Life is often difficult and unpredictable.

P.S. If you backed the Slightly Damned: Book One Kickstarter back in August, the PDF of the eBook is now available! Check your inboxes or this update for the download link! The book has been sent off to the printer and the merchandise for rewards are being bought this week. We are still on track for physical rewards being delivered in January 2019!
