For those of you who liked ye olde Slightly Damned radio play and were sad to see it go, this should come as great news to you! Eric Shonk of StarForce Media has assembled a new crew of voice actors to create a new comic dub adaptation of Slightly Damned! You can check out the first part here:

Be sure to let Eric know what you think of it, and support their future endeavor in making more! Thanks, Eric!

(By the way, I am aware that there are other potentially great comic dubs out there on Youtube (and possibly elsewhere). I'm just an old fart who drags their feet at watching videos, and Eric has been the most proactive about making me aware of their project. I don't want to discourage anyone else from working on their stuff, too! You just have to bug me about it!)

Slightly Damned will update this week with new pages on Friday the 23rd, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day! Then there will be no updates until January 7 & 8. In other words, that's a triple update for Christmas weekend, then no updates for New Year's weekend, then a double update once we're firmly in 2017's clutches.

Happy Holidays!

I don't have a set schedule, but I usually stream on Picarto at least once a week! https://picarto.tv/raizap

I am also quite talkative on Twitter: @sdamned

Upcoming Conventions:

  • Further Confusion ~ January 12 - 16, San Jose, CA (Note: I will be hosting two panels [How to make a webcomic and a live drawing demonstration] and will have a half-table on Sunday ONLY)
  • Phoenix Comic Con ~ May 25 - 28, Phoenix AZ
  • Biggest Little Fur Con ~ June 1 - 4, Reno, NV

There will be no Art Wednesday, Q & A Comic, or new Slightly Damned page while I am away on my trip to England. I'll try to make up the missed updates when I get back.

I am planning to be back home on the evening of November 8. I'll use November 9 to gather information on suggestions, questions, and commissions, then spend the rest of the day recuperating. I'll try to get back to drawing by Nov 10.

For the first time in literally 5 years, Slightly Damned is back in the game on Top Web Comics! If you take a few seconds to vote for the comic, you can see a rare doodle and help other people discover the comic! (Patrons who donate $5+ to my Patreon can see the weekly doodle without having to vote, but I ask them to anyway.)

Why do I suddenly care again? Well, a local reader of the comic told me that they still voted for the comic after all this time and would appreciate some new incentives. Plus, I took a look at my stats and realized I was still getting a reasonable amount of traffic from TWC despite neglecting it for so long. So, if it'll help new readers find the comic... why not?

I'm going to be tabling at Thought Bubble

This is your reminder that on November 5 & 6, I will be tabling in Leeds, England for the Thought Bubble Festival! If you're able, please consider dropping by to say hello! I'm going to have Slightly Damned books (but only a handful), Junk Hyenas books, some zines, and plushies for sale. I'm also considering making an exclusive print and/or offering sketches (though there's not enough room at a half table to do full commissions).

I'll be in the Marquee hall at table 88a. Hope to see you there!

The store has a received a small update! There are now a few copies of each Slightly Damned book available, which means you can get a signed copy cheaper and faster than you would through IndyPlanet! There's also a new combo called "Buwaro and Kieri's Mushy Stuff Special" in which you can get a bunch of Buwaro and Kieri goodies at a discounted price! Supplies ARE limited, so don't hesitate!

Check it out!

Thanks for everyone who came to see me at Phoenix Comic Con last weekend! It was a very successful show for me and it was great to see a bunch of old and new faces!

The next convention I'm going to be attending is a new show in Phoenix called Itty Bitty FurCon. After that, there's Arizona FurCon and Thought Bubble in Leeds, England.

Also, I just wanted to remind everyone that if you are experiencing any problems with the Slightly Damned website, please tell Hiveworks. You can contact them either by email at tech @ thehiveworks.com, or via Twitter @hivetechsupport.

I'm at Phoenix Comic Con this weekend! Please come by my table at AA510! That's in the Artist's Alley, row 500, near the wall!

Unfortunately I do not have any Slightly Damned books on me this time, but I do have other books, plushies, stickers, buttons and prints available!

I’ll be in Toronto this weekend tabling at TCAF! If you’re in the area, please come see me at table #227 on the second floor! The event is totally free!

I’ll also have books (Slightly Damned, The Junk Hyenas Diner, Earthbound Party!, and Night of the Cleaning Lady), plushies, charms, and art prints for sale! And I’ll draw you a little picture if you ask nicely!

So, how do you like the new site? It was designed by the folks at Hiveworks as part of Slightly Damned joining their network! I hope my becoming a part of Hiveworks will lead to more new readers discovering the comic.

By the way, I haven't been vocal enough about it, but I am going to be in Toronto, Canada for the Toronto Comic Arts Festival on May 14 & 15! This isn't a trip I'm going to be able to make every year, so if you're in the area, PLEASE consider dropping by to see me! Attendance to the festival is free, after all.

Encouraged by a friend, I applied for a table at Thought Bubble, a comics festival in Leeds in the United Kingdom. And hey-- I got in! Now I need to figure out if I should accept and attend.

The decision wouldn't really be about money, since even at my best conventions I probably wouldn't turn enough of a profit to pay for my airfare to England. This would be about the experience. I've never been to England before (even though my paternal grandmother was English), but I've always wanted to visit. But more importantly, I want to meet European readers in person! I know you're out there somewhere!

I'm a very small-time cartoonist, so me being able to table in Europe is something that is not likely to happen very often. If you live in England, or even in nearby countries and would even CONSIDER coming to see me at Thought Bubble, PLEASE tell me! Email me at chu [at] raizap.com, Tweet me at @sdamned, PM me on deviantArt or Weasyl or Tumblr-- ANYTHING! You don't have to promise you'll show up or anything; I just want to know if there's any demand at all for my appearance. This is a big decision and it'd be kind of a bummer to go all that way to find, whoops, no one knows me (it'd probably still be a fun vacation though).

EDIT (3/30): I've decided to go! I really appreciate all the comments I got from people who encouraged me to take the trip. It also helped knowing that a fellow cartoonist and friend of mine was planning to attend with his girlfriend. So, uh, hopefully I can make this work and I'll see a bunch of you there!

And we're back! If you're wondering if I had a relaxing break, then the answer is... NO! Even though I wasn't working on Slightly Damned at all last month, I was working harder than ever on multiple projects! It was kind of stressful! But on the other hand, it was also productive and a lot of fun, so I'm not complaining. Here's what I've been working on:

Night of the Cleaning Lady: A fun short story that was meant to be released before Halloween, but got delayed. Anyway it's finished now and it's a fun read, so please check it out and share it with your friends if you like it!

Further Confusion 2016: I traveled to my old hometown of San Jose to table at one of my favorite conventions! I met with a lot of friends I don't get to see very much, I played awesome board games, I ate good food, I watched fun stuff, I bought cool swag, I drew a lot of commissions, I co-hosted a panel with guest of honor Dana Simpson, and I visited family after the event. I also caught con crud and it was exhausting, but also TOTALLY WORTH IT!

The Legend of Buwaro: Soprano of Time: There are 5 new strips, which you can read in this tumblr post or at the bottom of the Soprano of Time archives.

Lots and lots of drawings: My tumblr has the most content on it in regards to doodles and minicomics, but I also upload the best of it (in my opinion) to my deviantArt and Weasyl accounts, if that's what you prefer looking at. Seriously, I drew a LOT of stuff, including stuff related to Slightly Damned, Pokemon, and even autobio comics.

A sorta secret collaborative comic project: I'm coloring pages for a friend's comic project, and I think it might be something people out there will dig. I'm gonna wait until they officially reveals it before I start talking about it, because I don't want to steal their thunder. I think you'll be able to see it soon, though!

Unfortunately I don't have any new Junk Hyenas Diner pages to show off yet, but I'm getting there! And there's no bonus Slightly Damned page this weekend, but maybe next weekend? And if not then, then soon, or at least by the end of the month. See, all the things I wanted to do in January kind of spilled into February, but I didn't wanna keep you hanging with Slightly Damned, so... well, wish me luck!! And enjoy!

Hey, guys. If you missed it on my Twitter (@sdamned), then here's the skinny: Slightly Damned pages take me a long time to make. I'm feeling fatigued and frustrated, so I'm not going to work on Slightly Damned pages in January. I'm going to use that time to give my other long-neglected projects some love (Night of the Cleaning Lady, The Junk Hyenas Diner, Soprano of Time, and even the 151 Pokemon challenge and others). Hopefully by February, you guys will have enjoyed a lot more varied output from me and I'll feel somewhat refreshed!

Besides that, I'll be going to Further Confusion in January, running a table and co-hosting a panel with one of the Guests of Honor! And I'll be visiting family while I'm in the Bay Area.

I'll try to have an update ready for this coming Saturday (January 2), but I'm not making any promises.

In short, in January, the only thing you won't be getting are Slightly Damned pages. I'll still do Art Wednesdays, and for Patreon patrons, I'll still do an exclusive wallpaper for the month, and I'll still show you guys sketches. But I totally understand if patrons want to lower or rescind their pledges if they're not getting Slightly Damned pages.
